Artist's Way
Workshop

"Let the beauty we love,
         be what we do".
                      --Rumi

Facilitated by Max Van Praag

3, 6 or 12 Weeks

Online or In-Person.

The artist's way is a 12-week individual program of readings and exercises to facilitate the creative recovery of blocked artists or the development of creativity in anyone. The medium of choice is irrelevant, be it acting, music, dance, painting, drumming, acting, composing, writing, filmmaking, sculpting. This program is designed to re-ignite creativity for those who feel that their well has run dry, or for any active artist who wants to fly higher.

In our dream for a creative life we often feel isolated. May this workshop be a safe space of inspiration and exchange to be reminded that we are not alone.

Requirement: own the book The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron in any language and avoid all other reading materials for these few weeks. There are 12 chapters we will read and do the exercises of one or two chapters per week (depending on the format) in addition to the basic tools of morning pages to clear the mind and weekly artist dates.

Every session has plenty of room for personal sharing and some coaching. Every small success matters and will be celebrated.

I am a performing artist and guide and I have facilitated this workshop many times since 2002, endorsed by Julia Cameron.

I come from a Dutch artistic and musical family, grew up in Holland and in the Paris art scene, started expressing myself as a musician at 6, studied later at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the School of the Arts in Utrecht NL and am active throughout my life as a classical vocalist singing recitals with songs in many languages that touch me and others deeply.

I also at times engage in any of the following activities:

producing youtube videos with inspiring interviews and discussions, painting, drawing, decorating, cooking, entertaining, hosting costumed parties, playing violin, piano, DJ-ing, and building picture frames for my art poster collection.

As a performer and teacher, I bring a deep understanding about self-love, self-knowledge, self-confidence and risk taking to this workshop.

As a highly sensitive artist I know what its like to be paralysed, blocked, crushed by loved ones; I bring much compassion, intuition and emotion to this workshop and the conviction that true talent does not die and always tries to find a way to be realized.

As a polyglot, scholar and traveler I bring vaste (cross-)cultural experience and knowledge to this workshop. As a mentor and advocate for mental health I bring experience and awareness about energy healing, complex trauma, addiction and dealing with "crazymakers" and narcissistic injury to this workshop.

It is my commitment to hold space for you to be loyal to your talent, your soul and your highest (creative) values and to experience a breakthrough in your creative movement and expression.

I have deep faith in this process and in it's tools.

We will have fun together !

The Artist's Way Tools:

Morning Pages

are three pages of stream of consciousness writing, done by hand, first thing in the morning. You can write about anything and everything that comes to mind. This is best done as soon as possible after you awaken and before you pick up your phone and have a conversation.

Artist's Date

is going on a fun and playful solo expedition for at least two hours once a week with the intention of finding inspiration. You could go to a gallery, art store or it does not have to be art-related, it can be any place where you can experience something new.

Walking

is going for a 20 minute walk by yourself to integrate. This can often help you work out a problem because it can become both meditative and inspirational and so it opens you to inner guidance.

Writing for guidance

is a meditative process of writing out questions, listening for the answers, and writing down whatever you hear from your inner wisdom. It connects you to your higher power through intuition.
